Brauner introduces a spectacular trailblazer that units the world...
With the brand new VMA, Brauner microphones Germany, manufacturer of the almost legendary VM1 microphone, introduced a spectacular new high grade tube microphone at the AES in New York. The VMA is derived from eight years of experience with the VM1, the microphone that made Brauner world famous, within just a few years.
The VMA combines the essence of the VM1 with the input that came from Brauner customers all around the world, (especially from the US.) and the approach of Brauners engineers, to always reach to the stars, when it comes to achieve a maximum in sound performance. The result is a microphone that is just stunning – and the greatest thing about it is, that it is actually truly two microphones in one!
A toggle switch on the power supply allows you to set the supermic to two different operational modes, of which one represents the famous VM1 sound, which is a great multi purpose sound for almost any recording task and of which the second one sets the microphone to operate with the sweetest and mellowest tube sound you´ve ever heard. The essence and the true spirit of the greatest vintage microphones ever built.
So it is not a surprise, that the Brauner VMA was one of the coolest new trailblazers at the show and there was only one reaction to it – wow! The first VMA has been sold to Sony Music, New York City, whose President David Smith, ordered the mic right at the show.
Industry veteran Elliot Scheiner, known for mixing a lot of Grammy Award winning albums, checked it out and was so impressed, that he said the VMA was the best sounding microphone he ever heard. He said he can´t wait to use it in front of Donald Fagen on the next Steely Dan Album next year…
Seven times Grammy Award Winner and industry veteran Al Schmitt said, that a thing this gorgeous has to become a success. He is a believer in Brauner microphones for many years now. He is convinced about Brauner not only for the tremendous sound and built quality of these masterpieces of German engineering, but also for their unsurpassed technical specs: “There is no other tube microphone that I know of, that is as noiseless as a VM1.”
Of course a Brauner isn´t cheap, but when you consider, that there is some vintage microphones on the market, selling for like up to 20.000 USD (some old ELAM 251´s in mint condition…), than a cost of 5.500,00 € is not really much, especially as you´re getting two microphones that are each worth a fortune.
Both of the VMA´s tremendous sounds are achieved by unique circuitry and biasing hints and not just cheap filter networks (…we´re talkin´Brauner Buddy;-) After switching from one to the other position, the microphone gets rebiased, where a lot of parameters change and different components, that make big part of the two sounds get switched into the signal path.
The result is just awesome and you have to hear it to believe it. So if your business is seriously about professional sound recording at its highest level, there is definitely now way around the Brauner VMA, a microphone that units the worlds of unprecedented German engineering art with the spirit of the best microphones ever built. Don´t miss to try it out. It will change your recording life forever…
